This is a Toshiba Laptop Satellite A215-S5837, FOR PARTS OR REPAIR ONLY. I bought this laptop about 8 years ago, and replaced the LCD screen, which was cracked. It worked for about 8 years, but the screen recently went completely black, even though the unit powers up. I tried to see if there was a video signal on the external VGA output, but there was none, EVEN WITH THE INTERNAL LCD CABLE DISCONNECTED! So this probably means the graphics chip on the motherboard went bad, and the motherboard needs replacing. However, the LCD screen is still good, and the DVD player is still probably good. The LCD screen alone is worth a bit (check prices on Ebay). I removed the harddrive, and the RAM. If you are computer savvy, you could even replace the motherboard, and have a working computer (you would need your own hard-drive and RAM too). $20 cash, or Best Offer.
