ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst saw an increase in its rate of new coronavirus cases in the last week, according to the DuPage County Health Department. As of Sunday, the city experienced 83 new cases in the last week, or a 2.1 percent hike. The increase was 1.4 percent the week before. The case total since the pandemic's beginning is 4,002. The number of those who have recovered is unavailable. As of Sunday, the number of coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst increased by one in the last week, to 61. The mortality rate among those locally with the coronavirus is 1.5 percent.
