Welcome to the Arkansas-NICA Leaders' Summit registration. Overview: The Arkansas-NICA Leaders’ Summit provides coaches with the opportunity to learn about the Arkansas League structure and processes, how to start a mountain bike team and run student mountain biking practices, how to work with their schools, issues related to liability, and the unique intricacies of working with high school and middle school cyclists. The primary goal for the Leaders’ Summit is to teach and license adults as competent NICA coaches while sharing a combined passion for the sport and the NICA vision.  The summit is an ideal opportunity for coaches and team organizers to collaborate and network with each other and league leadership, share thoughts and best practices, and get charged up for the upcoming season. When: Saturday, June 5th and Sunday, June 6th Where: Thaden School, 800 SE C Street, Bentonville, AR 72712 What should I register for? This year's summit consists of multiple tracks to accommodate coaches at various stages of training and development. Continue reading to learn the details of each option. Leaders' Summit with On The Bike 101 session (Sat & Sun) Seminars and discussions intended for new or existing coaches. Why attend this session? To satisfy the NICA coach license level 3 leaders summit requirement. Also, to satisfy the OTB skills requirement for coach license level 2. Coach Retreat with On The Bike 201 session (Sat & Sun) Workshop for coaches that have previously attended a leaders' summit. Structured workshops intended to promote networking, collaborating, and brainstorming to better your programing. Why attend this session? Get outside your existing program and see what you may gain by sharing ideas with coaches of other teams or communities. The On The Bike 201 session will provide additional skills training. Coaches attending this tract will get 16 continuing education units (CEUs). CEUs are required to maintain your existing level 2 or level 3 NICA coach license. Prerequisites: Previously attended a leaders' summit and OTB 101 On The Bike 101 session (Sunday only) Learn how to teach the essential mountain bike skills to student-athletes. Be better prepared to lead rides and work alongside other coaches on your team. Why attend this session? To satisfy the NICA coach license level 2 On The Bike 101 requirement. On The Bike 201 session (Sunday only) Learn how to teach the essential mountain bike skills to student-athletes. Be better prepared to lead rides and work alongside other coaches on your team. Why attend this session? To get 5 continuing education units (CEUs). CEUs are required to maintain your existing level 2 or level 3 NICA coach license. Prerequisites: Previously attended OTB 101 NICA First Aid & CPR (Sunday Only) This 8-hour session is specifically designed for coaches leading rides within one hour of definitive care. Why attend this session? To satisfy the NICA coach license level 2 or 3 first aid requirement. Those attending OTB sessions will receive the NICA OTB Field Guide. The registration does not cover the cost of your lodging during the event. Special Lodging Rates are being negotiated and will be posted. What to bring? Please bring your bike, helmet and riding gear for weather for the weekend. Flat pedal recommended.
