Description
There was a nest of cottontail rabbits in my back yard. I was avoiding them until feral cats found the nest and got one, kids screamed for me to save them so I did. The mom is long gone, there was blood in the nest. I have no transportation, I need someone experienced to help these babies. I got formula and syringes but I’m struggling to keep them fed, they aren’t used to it. It is a litter of 5 and they are 5ish days old. If you know anyone experienced with this sort of thing please reach out and hopefully transport them for me. I’m really overwhelmed and afraid they will die, I know how fragile they are. I’ll be calling animal control in the morning, not sure how much help they will be but I’m reaching out on here hoping I can get help to these babies sooner. There’s no where to put them outside, the nest is ruined and I have no cover in my yard to protect them from the neighborhood feral cats. I’m aware I can’t keep them and I know some might tell me I should have “let nature take its course” but there’s nothing natural about feral animals eating native wildlife so please leave me alone if you just want to lecture. I don’t want my kids or myself traumatized by a bloodbath in the yard. Please help!
