Tired of the cover band thing or music genres that are too specific? Have you wasted too much time in bands searching for an identity or vision or going through the motions? Well Almost Machines may be what you are looking for. Background: Almost Machines is an original rock / alternative group created in 2016 in WA state. Due to family and work situations the two founding members moved to VT and NH shortly before Covid hit. Now that vaccines are getting deployed we are working on getting version 2.0 of the group off the ground. We have a solid infrastructure in place; website, videos, artwork, T-shirts, and a full length 1st album completed and available online. We have 2 more full albums of material written that just needs your creative input so we can do more recording. But we have enough songs for a headliner length show. Members wanted: Searching for drums, bass, and maybe 2nd guitar player. We would also be interested in talking to musicians who play piano/keys, electronic music, or cello. And if you can play multiple instruments or do some backing vocals or harmonies too even better. We are looking for people who are solidly proficient at their instrument (you don’t have to be Peart or Jaco though). People who are nice, creative, accepting, and have positive and encouraging attitudes. And (aside from work and family obligations) people who are committed to the band and music and want to put on a good, energetic rock show. Age not too important, late 20’s - early 50’s. If MTV was a big early musical influence on you then it’s close to us. Be professional and no drugs harder than 420 or excessive drinking to where it impacts your performance. Some level of stage experience preferred. Sound: Radiohead with melody / Coldplay with balls. For an idea of our sound please check out our songs and videos. However music changes over time and with the input of new band mates, so this is always evolving. But it’s rock music, whatever that means today, or at least it’s not hip-hop, metal, or country. We play interesting but catchy songs featuring strong melodic vocals and an original sound. Location: TBD We live in Eastern VT and Eastern NH respectively. Have practice space near Bradford/Orange VT and soon will also have space near Durham NH. So there will be some flexibility in practice locations especially if you also have space available. We are willing to travel or rotate so driving is shared. Also we believe in individual practice at home and putting it all together at rehearsals, so it should be fun but also productive. Balancing band time with family time is a big challenge we all know. Goals: Build a fan base through live and online performances. Play live music venues and festivals throughout New England and maybe beyond. Record and release new material. And most importantly put on a great show both sonically and visually.
