PSA: Rabbit Hemmorhagic Disease Virus

Events

Little Rock AR

Description

Arkansas got its first case 4 days ago in Craighead/Poinsett. Everyone should be looking out for this, but especially bunny owners, hunters, breeders of all kinds, petting zoos, pet store owners, etc. This virus can live on surfaces for THREE MONTHS and affects both wild and domestic (pet, show, and meat) rabbits. It is extremely infectious to all rabbits, can travel on clothes and bedding, and has an extremely high mortality rate. This could destroy our local ecosystem. If predators run out of rabbits, they may turn to any pets left outside. Please keep an eye out for bloody noses. Wear a different, easily cleaned pair of shoes in rabbit barns. Please report dead rabbits with bloody noses, esp. mass death to Arkansas Game And Fish at .
