Description
Jazz pianist, composer and vocalist Ethan Ostrow returns to The Back Room. Ethan Ostrow is a New York-based pianist, composer, and vocalist from Berkeley, CA. He has had the opportunity to headline and perform at some of the Bay Area’s finest venues including Yoshi’s, The Fox Theater, The Freight & Salvage, Maybeck Studios, and more. Ethan strives for an intense, lush sound and demonstrates deep personal expression. Having led a double-life as an actor for many years, Ethan understands the power of storytelling, and brings it to his music in every performance. Ethan frequently combines his love of music with his passion for cancer charity work, and is proud to have raised over $45,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through his "Concert for a Cure" series. Keep an eye out for his first ever livestream fundraiser this July, featuring the incredible Dayna Stephens! Ethan is currently a student at the Manhattan School of Music, being mentored by Stefon Harris and Jeremy Manasia. He has also studied with Bay Area legend Susan Muscarella, and spent a year in Minneapolis playing with and learning from Phil Hey (Dewey Redman) and Dean Sorenson (Glenn Miller Orchestra, Frank Sinatra). A SPECIAL NOTE FROM THE BACK ROOM Thank you for your interest in this show. To stay in the loop about our future shows, please join our mailing list here (https://backroommusic.com/newsletter-sign-up). This show is part of our outdoor concert series, which is very different in atmosphere and logistics from our indoor shows. We did this in October, so we have a bit of experience at this point. Although our collective COVID restrictions are coming closer and closer to an end, and more and more vaccinated folks are now able to relax with each other mask-free, we cannot yet treat our public spaces in that way - not even outdoors - and we therefore want to be elaborately and redundantly safe in our procedures. So, masks will be required (except for singers on stage) and seats will be properly distanced. Audience members are welcome to un-distance the seats of those with whom you would otherwise be mask-less with - but you must keep your masks on. The seats will be standard folding chairs - no comfy couches this time, but they will be comfortably shaded. Only 60 tickets will be sold, and we expect all or most of them to be bought in advance. (Reimbursement for cancellation is guaranteed with 24-hour notice, and rain may cause a cancellation from our end). Please keep in mind that late afternoons can be chillier than expected, even on a warm spring day, especially when sitting still, so bring an extra layer! Cups of water will be available, but it might be a good idea to bring your own drinks/snacks. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING LIVE MUSIC! Tickets are $20. Children under 12 are free. We strongly encourage you to purchase your tickets in advance, which are available at the link below, or you may pay at the door the day of the show. Doors open one half hour before show time. We accept cash only at the door (ATMs are nearby). The Back Room is an all-ages, BYOB (for those 21+) space, dedicated to (mostly) acoustic music of all kinds. You are welcome to bring your own adult beverage with no additional corkage fee. If you need more information or have any questions, please call us: #510-381-1997. Thank you for your support!
