Your Arlington Last Updated: 03 April 2021 Written by Patch, Bob Sprague School playgrounds will be limited to in-person student use only from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days, Superintendent Kathy Bodie has announced. The elementary schools are reopening Monday, April 5, and middle schools April 27. The playgrounds will be open to remote students and the public after 4 p.m. weekdays and weekends and any day that in-person learning is not in session, which currently includes Wednesdays, YourArlington partner Patch has reported. Recreation Director Joe Connelly confirmed the report, adding that the announcement continues the policy already in place, with in person students being able to use the playgrounds until 4 p.m. School playgrounds include: • Bishop School (all playgrounds) • Brackett School • Dallin School (Florence Playground) • Stratton School (Pheasant Avenue Playground) • Peirce School • Hardy School • Parmenter School • Thompson School (playgrounds on school property) Since the Thompson School has some available playground space on site for school use only, the school-permitted hours at North Union/Lussiano Playground have been modified: • North Union/Lussiano Playground restricted for school use only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on days in-school learning is in session. Alternative playground options: • Summer Street (Multigenerational area and adjacent to Hill's Hill) • Buzzell • Crosby • Cutter/Reinhart Park • Hibbert • Locke (Davis Rd.) • Magnolia • McClennen • Menotomy Rocks • Parallel • Poets Corner • Robbins Farm • Reservoir Beach • Spy Pond Park • Waldo • Wellington • Whittemore Park Social distancing and mask compliance are mandatory at all Arlington playgrounds.
