Book a private, self-guided tour through the Smith-McDowell House. To comply with social distancing guidelines and for the safety of our guests, staff, and volunteers, we have reopened for private, timed, self-guided tours. To tour the house, you must book a tour time before arriving. A docent will greet you and give you an introduction and be available to answer questions. Your admission includes a 24-page tour booklet. By booking a tour, you also receive access to our temporary exhibit on The Lives and Music of African American People in far Western North Carolina. Your time in the house is limited to one hour so as to leave time for staff to disinfect and clean before and after your visit.
