For five Sundays in May 2021, meet and discuss Great Master Dechan Jueren's Sutra: Words of a Buddha: Selected Talks 1999-2003. This Book Club is An Excerpt (p.7-9): Foreword Words of a Buddha: Selected Talks 1999-2003 is a collection of talks on Buddha Dharma given by MahaVairocana Dharma King Dechan Jueren. MahaVairocana Dechan Jueren is Chinese Esoteric (Hanmi) Buddhist School's 49th Master and Lineage bearer, the 47th Master and Lineage bearer for the most recognized Zen School in China, the LinJi Chan School, and the 16th Lineage Holder of the renowned ZhaoJue Monastery. MahaVairocana Dechan Jueren founded the Dari Rulai Temple in Los Angeles, CA on December 11, 1998 as the seat for Chinese Esoteric (Hanmi) Buddhism, which embodies the complete teachings of the Mahavairocana Buddha passed down by Vajrasattva and Nargarjuna Bodhisattvas to Subhakarasimha, Vajrabodhi, and Amoghavajra. These talks were given by Grand Master Dechan Jueren (also known by his common name as Master Yu) in the United States from 1999-2003. His teachings that he gave then still resonate with and are important to us today. I hope that they can be helpful to all on the path toward greater awakening—for the beginners, for the disciples, and even for those who are already Masters themselves. Afterwards they were transcribed by various disciples of Grand Master Dechan Jueren’s. In some places the recording did not cover everything Grand Master said, in others, there are some grammar irregularities through the translation. Please forgive these inconsistencies. I offer this humble rendition of the translator’s and transcribers’ work, with the hope that it can benefit all sentient beings, so that we may all quickly attain to the highest enlightenment.
