Amber Hewett, Campaign Director of Offshore Wind Energy for the National Wildlife Federation, is the newly appointed co-chair of the Massachusetts Offshore Wind Committee. Join MetroWest Climate Solutions on April 28 at 7 p.m. for her presentation on the future of offshore wind for New England and Massachusetts, discussing: • Legislative developments for offshore wind in Massachusetts and surrounding states; • New hope for Vineyard Wind in Nantucket Sound: fewer turbines, a new configuration, and the project’s possibilities for approval at the Board of Ocean Energy Management; • Offshore wind in the Gulf of Maine including the latest updates on projected developments; • Why all of us who live in New England should support Offshore Wind as one of the main ways to decarbonize our region and economy. Barz-Snell has been active in a variety of interfaith environmental and lobbying initiatives on the state and federal level. Amber Hewett was raised in Newburyport. Her passion for sailing and her intrinsic love of the sea drive her to help realize effective climate policy that protects and celebrates our natural resources. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Earth Systems. After earning her degrees, she moved to Washington, D.C. to begin her career with the National Wildlife Federation, where she has been working as a clean energy advocate for 8 years.
