Position Summary: The Certified Irrigation Technician is responsible for installation of irrigation systems. In addition, inspect, audit, adjust and repair the systems to ensure they perform at maximum efficiency and conserve water. Reporting Protocol: The Certified Irrigation Technician reports to the Manager of the department. No direct reports for this position. Experience, Education, and Skills Required: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. At least two years of Irrigation experience required. In this position we expect this person to have a Backflow Certification. If you currently do not have this certification Northwest Landscaping will pay for you to complete the class within 30 days of employment. A valid Arizona driver’s license is mandatory. Problem solving skills, friendliness, positive demeanor, professionalism, and desire to please. Must enjoy working independently and in small groups. Must have knowledge of: • Materials and equipment used in the installation, maintenance, and operation of irrigation systems. • Methods and techniques of maintaining tools and equipment. • Backflow testing. • Safety practices and equipment. • Principles and procedures of recordkeeping Position Function and Duties: • Install irrigation or sprinkler systems • Test systems for potential issues • Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods in all types of weather. • Test soil and vegetation to determine irrigation needs. • Digging trenches and installing pipelines. • Installing pumps and electrical timers. • Maintain compliance with all company and state/federal safety standards, regulations, equipment, and procedures. • Inform management of any customer issues or concerns that are not completely resolved to the satisfaction of the customer. • Must communicate clearly with customers, supervisors, and managers. • Perform all other duties as assigned. Must be able to operate landscaping equipment. Requires constant (65%-100%) walking, bending, reaching, pulling, stooping, kneeling, pushing, stretching, and mental alertness. Requires frequent (34%-65%) climbing and lifting to (50) pounds. Requires occasional (0%-33%) sitting. Must possess the ability to endure high level of noise. Must possess physical stamina to work outdoors and perform labor continuously. Requires corrective vision and hearing to normal range. Ability to communicate clearly preferred. Must possess good hand-eye coordination, gross motor coordination, and manual dexterity. Must be able to withstand heat during hot summers. Typical Work Conditions: Constant contact with customers. Work is performed outdoors, with exposure to all weather elements. Work involves continual use of industry equipment, materials, and products. Work involves daily travel. Special Equipment: Must possess ability to operate landscaping equipment including, but not limited to mini- excavators, backhoes, trenchers, pipes, sprinklers heads, electrical wiring, and others. Northwest Companies’ Boot Program provides an annual stipend towards the boot’s purchase. This position is a safety sensitive position as it requires you to work at customer’s home. Compensation Expectations: Employees are paid every week. The payroll period begins on a Sunday and ends on a Saturday, and checks are available the following Friday. Direct deposit is available.
