Description
Coordinates the management of the entire fleet of 100+ vehicles and equipment. Assists local managers in root cause analysis investigation for major component failures, develops preventative best practices and widely communicates findings to help reduce failure frequency. Example of Duties •Develops and implements improved maintenance processes and practices including, record keeping, maintenance and management reporting. •Works closely with management and local service contractors to ensure cost effective maintenance of the fleet to achieve reliability goals. •Manages regional maintenance including scheduling and prioritizing major repair and rebuild work for units in the Region. •Performs field inspections of vehicles and equipment. •Maintains inventory and vehicle safety equipment: fire extinguishers, first aid kits, reflective triangles, etc. •Prepares new vehicles entering service and break down of vehicles being removed from service. •Maintains Inventory and vehicle documentation and DOT required decals, including all cab documents, DVIR books, stickers, placard, etc. •Orders, issues and tracks fleet fuel cards and maintenance cards. •Provides field/telephone troubleshooting and assessment of mechanical issues. •Collaborates with the local management team, review equipment fleets and requirements, facilitate the planned transfer of equipment between management units and across applications. Experience •Two (2+) plus years of work experience in fleet coordination and/or management roles. •Electric transmission or distribution construction industry experience is highly desired. •Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills. •Solid critical reasoning skills, strong work ethic. •Experience interfacing successfully with multiple departments, external vendors and/or customers. Education •High School graduate or equivalent required. •Bachelor’s Degree or relevant technical degree a plus. Licenses and Certificates: •Possession of a valid California driver's license, Class C, with ability to maintain insurability under the company’s insurance carrier. •Class A license is a plus. Supplemental Information Knowledge of: •Automotive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair requirements. •Business systems commonly used in the fleet management field. •Field experience and good understanding of business needs in terms of capital and equipment management. •Vehicle inventory material ordering and estimating. •Standard office equipment and procedures. Necessary skills: •Attention to detail is imperative. •Oral and written communication skills. •Team-oriented, ability to quickly develop strong relationships with site and business managers. •Strong interpersonal skills as well as the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure. •Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills with strong attention to detail. •Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.) and comfortable with basic MS Word documents and Excel formulas. •Performs related work as assigned. Ability to: •Coordinate the readiness and delivery of all new vehicles and equipment inventory. •Identify specific vehicle and equipment repair requirements. •Schedule priority and non-priority requirements and prepare forecasts. •Plan, coordinate and organize work to successfully meet deadlines. •Work independently with minimal supervision. •Exercise tact and deal effectively with others. •Take direction from supervisor. •Effectively communicate in English (written and verbal) information to staff and vendors. •Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. •Establish and maintain effective relationships with all internal staff and external vendors. •Travel up to 80% of their daily routine on job sites, in the yards or driving.
