Job Description The Rubber and Plastics Machine Operator produces molded products or parts from pre-mixed standard rubber or plastic compounds. Observes continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, making adjustments as necessary. Other key tasks include measuring and visually inspecting products for surface and dimension defects in order to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments; positioning and securing work pieces and start feeding mechanisms; turning valves/dials to regulate pressure, temperature, speed and feed rates, and to set cycle times. Removes finished or cured products from dies or molds, using hand tools, air hoses and other equipment; trims excess material from parts, grind scrap plastic into powder for reuse; and cools products after processing to prevent distortion. Responsibilities include but not limited to setting quality standards, ensuring standards are met, communicating policies/procedures, auditing/analyzing processes, measuring production, reporting results. Develops and maintains strong working relationships by working closely with employees, supervisors and other departments. Education/Experience High School diploma required; college or trade schooling preferred. Work Environment and Physical Demands Warehouse environment. Moderate noise level and temperature. Day shift starts at $16.00 per hour and is 7:00am – 3:30pm Monday – Friday. Swing shift starts at $16.50 per hour and is 3:00pm – 11:30pm Monday – Friday. Night shift starts at $16.75 per hour and is 11:00pm – 7:30am Monday – Friday.
