Many different types of events occur throughout CARD including weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, sports programs, and other locally supported events. We provide these memorable experiences for our community by hiring passionate people who want to work hard to ensure our parks and facilities are safe, clean, and ready for the next event. The position of Park Labor III is an important part of the CARD team, providing support for a variety of needs in our parks and facilities. That support includes job responsibilities such as: • Set up and cleanup of recreation programs and special events; • Assist with planting projects and helping maintain and remove trees and shrubs; • Perform a variety of custodial duties including restroom and facility cleaning, sweeping, mopping and trash removal; • Assist in routine semi-skilled work in landscaping, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, sport field preparation and maintenance; • Assist in the repair and replacement of playground equipment. Because CARD helps the community play, celebrate and enjoy life in Northern California, our staff must establish and maintain a pattern of regular, prompt, and dependable attendance. In addition to being reliable, having a good work ethic and pride in a job well done, we are also looking for the following general skills: • Performing unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in a variety of maintenance duties; • Performing heavy physical labor, including lifting heavy articles; • Understanding and carrying out oral and written instructions; • Providing excellent customer service to the public and other District employees; • Adhering to all safety procedures and protocols. In addition to the general skills listed above, a qualified candidate must have a valid CA driver’s license and be able to pass a fingerprint background check and a physical. Since CARD runs programming and rents facilities 7 days a week, there are several schedules that need to be filled including early morning, late afternoon, and weekend shifts. Candidates with the ability to work weekend shifts will be considered a definite plus. This position is 28 hours per week, pays $14.00 an hour and provides 24 hours of sick leave each year.
