Press release from Nassau County Police Department: April 2, 2021 The Homicide Squad is investigating an apartment fire that occurred in Bethpage on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 2:20 AM. According to Detectives, Eighth Precinct Officers responded to a Nicole Court apartment building for a call for the smell of smoke. Upon arrival it was determined that there was a fire in one of the apartments. The Hicksville Fire Department forced entry into the apartment and found a 79-year-old female unconscious on the floor. The aided was transported in a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased by a physician. All remaining occupants of the building were evacuated safely with no injuries reported. The Nassau County Police Arson Bomb Squad responded along with the Nassau County Fire Marshall.
