Your Arlington Last Updated: 31 March 2021 Written by ATED Arlington's annual Patriots Day parade and the reenactment of the ride of Paul Revere and William Dawes have been canceled for a second straight year in the light of the ongoing pandemic. But virtual celebrations of these events continue, brought to you by the Arlington Committee on Tourism and Economic Development (ATED). Residents and businesses are invited to celebrate the spirit of Menotomy and Revolutionary War history in fun, safe ways. Here's how the tourist group hopes to brighten the town: The Uncle Sam Patriots Day decorating contest Residents are invited to decorate their homes in red, white and blue. The contest includes six categories with a winner and runner up in each: Front Door, Window, Front of house, Yard, Car and Bicycle. The three-judge panel is from the arts community, the business community and the Arlington Historical Society. Sign up online here >> The deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 14. Have your entry ready by 10 a.m. Saturday, April 16. Winners will be selected based on those who best show the spirit of Menotomy. Shop Arlington First gift certificates, now redeemable at any business in Arlington, will be awarded. Colonial-history trivia challenge Show off your knowledge of Colonial history at the online Patriots Day trivia challenge at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 19. The contest, hosted via Zoom, will consist of six rounds of five questions each, focusing on Colonial and local history, including an Arlington-specific round. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place.
