Press release from the Waukee Community School District: April 1, 2021 Construction Updates – April 1, 2021 Construction projects continue across the Waukee Community School District. These are exciting times for our current and future students, staff, and community members. We are excited to share our progress as we enter the month of April. Note from Kirk Johnson, Chief Operations Officer – Waukee Community School District Just over one year ago, our Board of Education approved a 10-year facility plan. That plan guides our work in the areas of new construction, building additions, and improvements to existing facilities. We have a complete progress report from all of our construction sites listed below. This update provides our staff and families with an opportunity to see our progress within our facility plan. I would like to also remind everyone that within all of the construction sites safety is our highest priority. With that, please refrain from entering active construction sites. Upon completion of projects, we plan to have virtual tours of our additions and open house opportunities for our new building construction. April 2021 Progress Updates Brookview Elementary – Addition Project is approximately 75% completed Both additions are fully enclosed Exterior brickwork is finishing up Interior finishes are starting to be installed Northwest High School – New Construction NWHS Entire Site Video – 3/16/2021 Project is approximately 90% completed Exterior site work and landscaping is getting completed Interior finishes are being installed throughout Equipment and fixtures are being installed Punchlist inspections are occurring and are scheduled for the next month Sugar Creek Elementary – New Construction Project is approximately 40% completed Exterior site work is resuming Interior walls are being framed and drywalled Electrical, mechanical, and plumbing system rough-ins are continuing VMLC Preschool/Office – Addition Project is approximately 50% completed Drywall is being installed throughout Windows and exterior wall coverings are being installed Interior finishes are starting to be installed in some areas Prairieview School – Addition Project is substantially complete Temporary Certificate of Occupancy was issued by the City of Waukee Fitness equipment is scheduled to be installed in mid-April Eason Elementary – Addition Project is approximately 25% completed Precast concrete roof has been installed Underground utilities are installed Interior floor and storm shelter roof are being prepped for concrete Timberline Stadium Improvements – Phase #2 The contractor has been determined and a pre-construction meeting is scheduled Groundwork on the soccer fields should begin in the next couple of weeks Middle School #5 – New Construction In design with FRK Architects; Bids in May 2021 WCSD Aquatics Facility – New Construction In design with RDG Planning & Design; Bids in Nov 2021 Schematic designs are being developed based on input from stakeholders This press release was produced by the Waukee Community School District.
