Hammering! Soldering! Casting! Forging! Learn the traditional techniques of jewelry making in this introductory class. This introductory 8 week course will focus on the design process and basic fabrication techniques of jewelry making and metalsmithing. In this class, students will begin with a sample project to practice design, layout and construction of a small decorative metal piece. This will serve as a guide to practice using basic tools and techniques for sawing, soldering, texturing and polishing. Using these skills, students will design and construct a custom pendant, ring and/or earrings. Additional demonstrations, including bezel setting and riveting, will be provided during this course. *LIMITED SEATING - Only 4 spots open for winter session Materials included - copper, brass, nickel sheet and wire, sterling silver for ring project with cabochon stone. Instructor : Taylor Heide Schedule - Every Tuesday 6-9pm June 15 - August 3 (8 weeks) June 15 - 6-9pm June 22 - 6-9pm June 29 - 6-9pm July 6 - 6-9pm July 13 - 6-9pm July 20 - 6-9pm July 27- 6-9pm August 3 - 6-9pm *Aug 10 - Make up day if class is cancelled Pricing - $485 (Early Bird Ticket) available until May 19 $525 (General Ticket) available until June 9 To help promote a safer environment for our students attending workshops, we have had to make some adjustments to how our workshops and the studio will be operating this coming season. All in-person workshops will have a maximum of 4 students plus the instructor to help us maintain a safe social distance while working on projects. During workshops, all students and instructors are required to wear a mask during class. (nitrile gloves will be available if needed)When arriving at The Bench, students and instructors will wash hands when entering the class or used hand sanitizer before handling tools and materials. At the end of each class, commonly touched surfaces are clean and all tools used during workshops are wiped down before being put away.
