Press release from the City of Reno: April 1, 2021 With the start of a new month, the City of Reno Parks and Recreation department would like to inform the public of the many spring recreation activities that are currently available, and what our community can look forward to this summer: Aquatics: Northwest Pool will begin offering evening lap swim time for the general public starting in April. Lane times will begin at 5:15 p.m. Lane times can be reserved by calling Northwest Pool at 775-334-2203. Evelyn Mount Pool remains open Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with lap and open lane time and water fitness classes. The pool is also open Saturday, from 9:30 am to 3 pm., which includes lap lane and lesson programming. Lane times can be reserved by calling Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center at 775-334-2262. Idlewild and Traner Pools will open for the summer season for public lap and open swim starting in June. Updated schedules are available on Reno.gov. Athletics: Reno Youth Sports Association (RYSA) leagues are in full operation at City of Reno fields.Spring softball and kickball seasons are currently taking place at the Reno Sports Complex and Idlewild Park. Adult volleyball leagues are scheduled to resume at Plumas Gym in the summer. Summer seasons for all adult sports leagues will offer online and in-person registration starting in May. Health and Wellness: Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center and Neil Road Recreation Center are open and holding programs (visit links to view April 2021 activity schedules). The following programs are available: Chair Thi Chi, Chair Yoga, Gentle Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Bean Bag Baseball, *Pickleball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Sit and Fit, Zumba, Tai Chi, Bunco, Karate, and Shuffleboard. *Open Pickleball is by reservation only. Call the center you would like to attend to make a reservation: Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center - 775-334-2262 Neil Road Recreation Center - 775-689-8484 Sierra Kids and Vacation Station: Sierra Kids before and after school programs are in session until June 9, 2021. Vacation Station Summer Camp locations are planned for Idlewild Park's California Building and Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center. Registration will open soon. Adaptive Recreation: Fit but not Forgotten Veteran fitness classes are being offered each month, including refreshers for Veterans with expired memberships. Call 775-333-7765 for a schedule of classes. Adaptive equipment rentals are available, and a current inventory and request form is available at Reno.gov/Adaptive. The City of Reno has launched a new sled hockey program at Reno Ice. Call 775-333-7765 to join the team!
