Job Title: Material Handler I Department: Shipping & Receiving Reports to: Shipping & Receiving Manager MAJOR FUNCTIONS: • Forklift operation and/or clamp truck • Routine duties of shipping and receiving • Load and unload trucks • Insure accuracy on labels and packaging of product • Verify accuracy of orders against PO’s/ or invoices • Communicate with vendors, carriers, drivers & dispatchers RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform routine duties in the shipping and receiving of materials, supplies, and equipment. • Properly operate forklift to load and unload trucks, as well as transport materials to various areas. • Ensure shipments are accurately labeled and properly packaged. • Cross reference physical order/or shipment against PO/or invoice to ensure accuracy. • Represent the company professionally while communicating with vendors, carriers, dispatchers, etc. • Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies. • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and surrounding area. • Maintain an excellent attendance record and an excellent safety and work quality record. • Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: • Must be able to operate a fork lift and pass OSHA certification test. • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including continuous visual attention, standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50lbs, carrying and climbing). • Self-starter, aggressive work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision. • Safety conscious. • Must be flexible to work any shift and/or to adjust shift when necessary. • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays. • Ability to work in various conditions with exposure to weather elements. • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • 1 year experience with forklift operation and/or clamp truck. • Legally eligible to work in the United States. • Must be able to read, speak and write the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, instructions, signs, signals, and safety training. WORKING CONDITIONS • Exposure to weather elements. • Exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, and fumes found in a shop environment. • Exposure to equipment traffic.
