Description

Laguna Beach, CA - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to replace a box culvert under Coast Highway at Main Beach in Laguna Beach this spring. The estimated construction dates are from April 1 until May 24. See a LIVE Look at Downtown Laguna Beach Traffic by Clicking HERE! Traffic has been reduced to one lane in both directions for the duration of the construction. Phase 1 Construction Started Thursday, April 1 with drilling shoring beams for support. Following Easter weekend, the pavement will be removed so the excavation of the channel can begin. A full overnight closure is scheduled for Thursday, April 8. The closure will occur from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. while crews work to remove and replace the existing sewer pipes. Another full overnight closure will occur Saturday, April 10 from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. for the installation of the pre-cast boxes. Crews are scheduled to work double shifts, dependent on the work needed. The shifts begin at 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Caltrans appreciates the public's patience while we perform this work. Signage will be posted to notify drivers of the closure. Work updates will be available via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using our handle, @CaltransOC. This work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues. For more information about this project, please contact Caltrans Public Information Officer Darcy Birden at (949) 923-7136 or [email protected].
