Laguna Beach, CA - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is scheduled to replace a box culvert under Coast Highway at Main Beach in Laguna Beach this spring. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in both directions for the duration of the construction. Phase 1 Construction Started Thursday, April 1 with drilling shoring beams for support. Following Easter weekend, the pavement will be removed so the excavation of the channel can begin. A full overnight closure is scheduled for Thursday, April 8. The closure will occur from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. while crews work to remove and replace the existing sewer pipes. Another full overnight closure will occur Saturday, April 10 from 8:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. for the installation of the pre-cast boxes. Crews are scheduled to work double shifts, dependent on the work needed. The shifts begin at 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Caltrans appreciates the public's patience while we perform this work.
