Description
I recently highlighted to you in a previous article how Mr. Mottl consistently votes against funding our excellent Burr Ridge police force. He votes against paying their salaries, buying ammunition, providing training, and so on--essentially defunding them. https://patch.com/illinois/burrridge/trustee-zach-mottl-votes-defund-burr-ridge-police There is another disturbing trend where Mr. Mottl fails the residents of the Village. He regularly votes against many of the essential goods and services needed to keep our Village running, which are required in order to properly serve our residents. Please follow along: As you know, Mr. Mottl routinely votes against paying the salaries of our Police officers and of our dedicated Staff when he votes "No" on the Consent Agenda—Vendor List. In addition, he votes "No" on many other essential goods and services for our residents. Here are some highlights of the items he has voted against. These "No" votes by Mr. Mottl are documented from the respective Meeting Minutes listed. Meeting Minutes link is here: https://www.burr-ridge.gov/document-center/ Click on "Minutes—Board Meetings and Plan Commission", "Village Board", 2020 or 2021. I have chosen to highlight the most important items since the start of the pandemic. 4/13/20 Board Meeting: Mr. Mottl voted against our mosquito abatement program, our street sweeping program, the exterior cleaning of our water towers, and our Tourism Recovery Program. This last program was a lifeline to our great Burr Ridge businesses and was reimbursed 100% by the CARES Act. 4/27/20 Board Meeting: He voted against a water main replacement project, our 2020-2021 revised budget, and our 2020 Roads program. The water main replacement project is to assure our residents have safe drinking water. The Roads program is our annual paving program of those Village streets determined to be in the most need of repaving. 5/26/20 Board Meeting: He voted against purchasing Police ammunition, against a Resolution honoring retired Village Clerk Karen Thomas for her 41 years of dedicated service to the Village, and he voted against our stellar restaurant tent program. This tent program helped our fine Burr Ridge restaurants survive the pandemic and was reimbursed 100% by the CARES Act. 6/8/20 Board Meeting: He voted against Village Hall security upgrades and water distribution security upgrades. 6/22/20 Board Meeting: He voted against hiring a Police officer, purchase of PPE (face masks), and voted against a Resolution honoring a retired Police Sergeant for his 24 years of dedicated service to the Village. 6/22/20 Board Meeting: He voted against hiring independent auditors to assure the Village's finances are proper, accurate, and in order. This is a mandatory State requirement. 10/12/20 Board Meeting: Mr. Scrooge Mottl voted against our Holiday lighting program, our bulk rock salt purchase so our roads in the Village are safe to travel on in the winter, Police officer training, a new Village Center business (Veterinary Clinic), and Ultra Violet Light (UV) purification equipment for the air handling system for the Village Hall. This UV system will help keep the air inside the Village Hall safe to breathe. 10/26/20 Board Meeting: He voted against painting our fire hydrants, and the leasing of our Police vehicles and Public Works vehicles 11/9/20 Board Meeting: Mr. Mottl voted against accepting reimbursement from the government for COVID-19 related expenses and for our Property Tax levy 12/14/20 Board Meeting: He voted against our Property Tax levy (again), a new County Line Square restaurant, and repairs to our Village sidewalks and pathways. 1/21/21 Board Meeting: Mr. Mottl voted against an emergency rock salt purchase and emergency repairs to a sewer system lift station. Without these repairs, toilets could not be flushed in the southeast section of the Village. 2/22/21 Board Meeting: He voted against our annual parkway tree trimming program. Gaps in between the meeting dates above were caused by Mr. Mottl's absences on 5/11/20, 7/27/20, 8/24/20, 9/14/20, 9/28/20, 11/27/20, and 1/25/21. His miserable attendance record is documented here: https://patch.com/illinois/burrridge/trustee-zach-mottl-missed-26-village-board-meetings It is clear to see that Mr. Mottl does not act in the best interest of the Burr Ridge residents. If he did, he would support the above-listed expenditures, not vote "No" against them. Furthermore, when given the opportunity, he disparages dedicated employees who retire from the Village after years and years of service. Trustee Mottl does not have the best interests of the residents of Burr Ridge in mind.
