Bike Trips For The Disabled Begin Along Blackstone Trail In April

WORCESTER, MA — Starting in April, some visitors to the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor are going to get a new view of the miles of paved trails between Worcester and Providence. In November, the national heritage corridor acquired an adaptive bicycle that allows the disabled or people with mobility issues to enjoy a bike ride. The adaptive bike will hit the paved trail between Worcester and Millbury in April with four events for veterans. The events will happen Tuesdays on April 13, April 27, May 11 and June 1. The corridor will also offer the adaptive bike for use on April 24 along the paved trail in Blackstone. That event will recognize the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's "Celebrate Trails Day." RELATED: Blackstone Heritage Corridor Gets Bike For Wheelchair Users Following the four veterans events, the heritage center will begin hosting more events to offer the bike to any member of the public who wants to give it a spin. There will also be two events in Lincoln, RI, in May featuring the bike. To register for the events, call All Out Adventures at 413-584-2052 or email [email protected]. The Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor features miles of trails and historic sites in the Worcester area, Uxbridge, Blackstone, and between Woonsocket and Providence. The Worcester section of the corridor begins at the Blackstone Heritage Corridor Visitor Center off McKeon Road, which is also the start of a three-mile paved trail that ends near downtown Millbury.
