CHEMICAL COMPOUNDER / FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN General Description Our company, located in North Alabama is looking for a qualified and motivated person to join our team as a Chemical Compounder/Field Service Technician. This full-time position requires one or more of the following areas of experience, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or plumbing. Experience as a field service technician or chemical compounder is preferred but not required. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES -Execute bulk product batch processing inclusive of all activities in support of batch blending of dry and liquid chemicals.. Follows a batch ticket that contains the amounts of material, order of addition and process variables -Follow filling procedures to fill containers ranging from ½ gallon bottles to 55 gallon drums. -Operate forklifts, pumps, blending kettles, and other processing equipment. Execute the cleaning of tanks and other equipment -Operate scales and other measuring equipment -Exercise proper use of all protective equipment. -Ability to properly label products - Receive service calls as assigned and ensure prompt response based on estimated time of arrival. - Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot/diagnose, repair and service - Provide installation of new equipment to customers - Ability to drive a truck providing local deliveries and service to our customers. - Professionally communicate to customer services performed. - Document all work performed and close out all activities upon completion. - Maintain and Repair Company Owned Equipment -Understand and comply with current DOT requirements relevant for the position. -Maintain professional, courteous, and effective communication with all co-workers, customers, and contractors in the execution of all job functions. - Maintain a professional appearance and follow established safety standards. - Assist in other areas of the company as needed. - Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as emergency service and equipment installation as needed. SKILLS: - Mechanical and electronic aptitude. Plumbing, Electrical or Chemical Compounding experience is helpful. - Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills - Strong accuracy and detail oriented with all paperwork - Customer relations, interpersonal relationships, team relations and service oriented - Excellent organizational and time management skills - Must be self-starter, work with minimal supervision and be able to accomplish tasks in a timely manner. - Good oral and written communication skills MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Physical Demands: - Climb on stepstool/ladder, must be able to reach, lift, and maneuver up to 20 lbs. - 30 lbs. while inserting and removing parts, ability to lift up to 50lbs independently and 120 lbs with assistance - Bending or crouching while twisting in a confined, area to perform work behind or below equipment. - Ability to drive more than 30% of the time. - Ability to hear component irregularities. - Ability to make visual inspections Education and Experience: - High School Diploma or GED Required - 2 years of compounding experience, preferably from the chemical industry but will consider other backgrounds. - A 2 year technical certification, apprenticeship training program, on the job training and or military equivalent. - 1 year of experience operating a forklift is preferred - Ability to maneuver drums weighing up to 400 pounds and lift containers weighing up to 80 pounds. - Must be able to see, read and distinguish between labels. - Must be certified or be able to be certified to wear a respirator and follow all rules regarding respirator wear. - Mechanical abilities, with experience in repairs and maintenance of equipment - Valid driver's license with proof of an excellent driving record.
