General Labor and Customer Service- Open Air Nursery Yard Wilson Farm, Lexington, MA is hiring additional staff to join our Yard team! This is a Full Time position. We are hiring individuals to join and successfully assist the Yard Manager with daily and weekly responsibilities as they relate to ensuring the highest level of customer service expected by our shoppers. Primary Responsibilities: Maintain inventory of products (plants and produce) for individual department Pricing and accuracy of pricing Plant maintenance and rotation of product (plant and produce) to ensure quality of product Provide positive customer interactions in a friendly and helpful manner at all times General clean up, organizing of department display space in yard for (plants and produce) to maintain neat appearance Unloading plant/tree trucks as they arrive on site Other related tasks as assigned by Department Manager/Owner, for the overall good of all teams at Wilson Farm. Experience/Qualifications: Prior retail garden shop/nursery/greenhouse or landscaping experience is required Some retail produce experience is great Retail Customer service experience preferably in garden center/plant nursery/produce. Minimum 1-2 years of similar experience (e.g. your experience at Mahoney’s Garden Center, Russell’s Garden Center, Pemberton Farms, Volante Farm, Tendercrop Farm, Home Depot or Lowe's Garden Center is greatly appreciated) Work Schedule: Full-time is 5/6 days/week (50+ hours/week). Schedule will be “closing” 10am - 7pm schedules on weekdays and weekend days. May rotate for “opening” as needed, which would be 7am – 5pm. Holiday periods will require more hours and flexibility in schedule (which is greatly appreciated) to meet business needs. Candidate Profile and Personal Attributes: Outstanding customer service skills, excellent work ethic Enthusiastic, outgoing personality; positive attitude Reliable/punctual - reliable transportation, shows up early/on time, every time. Excellent communications skills – speaking with vendors, employees and most importantly, customer - answering the phone and in person, being respectful and polite Ability to work well in a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills. Must be at least 18 years of age to hold these positions. Physical requirements: (THIS IS A VERY PHYSICAL JOB) Standing/bending/reaching/lifting/walking/climbing stairs for periods of time Must be able to lift/move 40lb+ - everything from plants to shrubs to produce product Quick worker - speedy, but safe Stocking/caring for seasonal plants as well as associated seasonal items, arranging displays.
