EASTON, MA — Easton Public Schools will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Blanche A. Ames Elementary School next week to mark the beginning of the new school's construction phase, said the district in a news release Wednesday.
The event, which is being held to honor the contributors who made the project possible, will take place Friday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Parkview Elementary School, located at 50 Spooner Street. Those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP to [email protected] by Monday, April 5.
"Without the contributions of so many generous individuals, this project would not have been able to get off the ground," School Planning Committee Chair Jane Martin in a statement. "With this event, we want to recognize their efforts and thank them for their commitment to this project. We are looking forward to celebrating this next step as our newest school begins to take shape."
The design of the new early elementary school will honor the town's history, engage children's curiosity, and contribute to the physical, academic, and social-emotional development of students, said the district. The building is named after Blanche A. Ames, an artist and inventor who was known for her suffragette efforts, and will make reference to her work.
Construction on the Blanche A. Ames Elementary School is currently scheduled to be completed in October 2022.
