This class takes you through rapid factory prototyping a product development shop or design department uses in creating new fashion items.
Ever wanted to learn how rapid prototyping works in fashion sample shops? Come hang out with us for the day and learn how to use industrial sewing machines and equipment. This advanced class is designed for people entering into the fashion industry who plan to go into management, create their own products, or open their own business. Please arrive early and wear sensible clothing with close toed shoes. You will be using industrial equipment and expected to sign a waiver.
You will be working with CAD patternmaking software and sample sewing machines. Normal cut and sew shops can design from concept to mock-up in a day for clients for production. We'll discuss major CAD systems used in design, brainstorm a new product, go over major factory paperwork and apps, and complete by end of day.
Please note, this is the general process brands use to create modern products for sale and we will include some wholesale venues for distribution. It's typical for design teams to go through several cycles before launching a final product for distribution.
We created this class for fashion design students and beginners in the business after seeing many fashion schools no longer have labs to walk through the physical design process due to budget cuts. Anyone wishing to take this class MUST have already taken our beginning sewing class and have a basic understanding of how to use an industrial sewing machine.
Fees pay for supplies and staff time.
There is a standard Eventbrite refund policy where you can cancel anytime up to the day before using their standard system. If you need to cancel the day of you may get a credit for future classes. No cash refunds are available this time.
