AUSTIN, TX — Austin police are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting Sunday afternoon that left one man dead at a North Austin hotel.
Police said officers received a 9-1-1 call around 11:36 a.m. Sunday on report of a man who was shot inside a room at the WoodSpring Suites Austin on 11105 N Interstate 35 Service Road.
When officers arrived, they found 41-year-old Brandon Williams with gunshot wounds. Williams was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he later died from his injuries.
Authorities said a witness on scene reported hearing gunshots and seeing a mid-height man last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket, a baseball cap and red shoes fleeing the area after the shooting.
Officials said investigators learned the male suspect was at the hotel to deliver marijuana to the victim. A dispute over the drugs is believed to have been the cause of the altercation.
The Travis County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death, authorities said.
Detectives are asking anyone with information or video of the incident to call APD Homicide at 512-974-TIPS, email [email protected], utilize the Crime Stoppers tip line at 512-472-8477 (TIPS), or the Crime Stoppers app. Individuals may remain anonymous.
A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.
