HOBOKEN, NJ — Several new groups of people became eligible for the coronavirus vaccine this week, and more will do so on April 5, including people 55 and over, and certain frontline workers. A message sent out by the city of Hoboken on Thursday afternoon said the city will pre-register those who want to receive the vaccine in Hoboken. There are also other avenues, including county sites (see list below), chain pharmacies, certain medical practices, and more. The city wrote: The Hoboken Health Department is now accepting pre-registrations for Hoboken residents meeting the following criteria below, who become eligible to receive the vaccine as of April 5. Residents will be placed on a list to receive a COVID-19 vaccination through the Hoboken Health Department and Carepoint. Hoboken residents meeting the criteria below can pre-register at www.hobokennj.gov/vaccinesignup. Eligible as of Monday, April 5: Individuals ages 55-64;Individuals ages 16 and up with intellectual and developmental disabilities;Educators, including support staff, in higher education settings;Communications infrastructure support, including engineers, and technicians, and members of the press;Real estate, building, and home service workers, including construction workers, code officials, plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, property management, and maintenance workers;Retail financial institution workers, including bank tellers, lending services, public accounting, and check-cashing workers;Sanitation workers providing disinfection and janitorial services, city sanitation workers; residential, commercial, and industrial solid and hazardous waste removal workers;Laundry service workers, including those working in laundromats, laundry services, and dry cleaners;Utility workers including, electrical generation and supply system, natural gas delivery, nuclear power plant, water supply, telephone, cable/fiber/optical/broadband/cellular service workers; and,Librarians and support staff at municipal, county, and state libraries. Hoboken residents who meet the criteria directly below are already eligible to receive the vaccine: Individuals age 65+Individuals age 16-64 with certain medical conditionsChildcare workers in licensed and registered settingsClergyEducators and staff, pre-K to 12Eldercare and support workersElections personnelFirst respondersHealthcare workersHospitality workersIndividuals experiencing homelessness and those living in sheltersJudicial system workersLong-term care and high-risk congregate care facility residents and staffMedical supply chain employeesMembers of tribal communitiesMigrant farm workersPostal and shipping service workersPublic safety workersSocial service workers and support staffTransportation workersWarehousing and logistics workers Residents who meet the criteria above but do not have computer or internet access may call the Community Emergency Response Team hotline at 201-420-5621 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 9 am and 12 pm, or leave a message outside of those hours with name, address, phone number and email if available, to pre-register.
