Golf for Good -- Join us for a day of golf, lunch and prizes at The Bay Pointe Club! Registration begins at 7am with tee off at 8am followed by a buffet lunch and awards. Maya Childcare Inc. on Cape Cod funds the Acorn Childcare Center in Quetzaltenago, Guatemala, an early education center that provides a stimulating early education, nutritious meals and parenting support in a caring environment. More than half of Guatemala's citizens live below the poverty line while nearly half of Guatemala’s children under 5 suffer from chronic malnutrition. Parents of children living in poverty have to work to be able to provide for their families, but with their parents working, children can be left to care for younger siblings — and often at very young ages — leaving their younger siblings vulnerable to neglect while they miss out on the opportunity to go to school themselves. Extreme poverty also means that women do not have good options for where they live or with whom they leave their children making them vulnerable to domestic violence and neglect. The Acorn Childcare Center provides a safe and caring environment for young children to interact, imagine, explore and learn while allowing older siblings to attend primary school and parents to earn a living wage. The Center also provides on-going support for parents to help their children learn and grow to their full potential. Maya Childcare Inc. is completely run by volunteers and thus 100% of each donation goes directly to the Acorn Childcare Center.
