Quake Rattles Los Angeles. Did You Feel It?

HUNTINGTON PARK, CA — A magnitude 3.0 earthquake epicentered just north of Huntington Park rattled Angelenos out of bed Thursday morning. The quake struck at 5:52 a.m. at a depth of about eight miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. No damage was reported in the aftermath of the quake. More than 100 residents reported the shaking to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was felt as far south as San Juan Capistrano and as far north as Oxnard. Primarily, residents in South Central Los Angeles to the San Gabriel Valley reported the impact. The quake was located about 1.5 miles NNE of Walnut Park; 1.7 miles west of Maywood; and 1.8 miles WNW of Bell. A dispatcher at the Huntington Park Police said, "We felt it, but it was not that strong," and added that the department had received no calls reporting any damage.
