Description

An opportunity to connect with others who have overcome barriers and are making a difference in their communities. We all have a story to tell, some are riveting, while others are comforting and soul healing. Regardless of our past, our stories provide examples of how we have conquered or are in the process of conquering our physical, emotional, mental, and/or spiritual barriers. And how this process of being an overcomer is creating opportunities for each of us to touch the lives of women all around us. Our time together will be spent learning from each other and learning how we can best support one another in our daily lives as we go from victory to victory. Our keynote speaker is Rosemond Owens, a seasoned Equity Practioner currently advancing racial health equity in the Midwest. Born in Ghana, she prides herself on being a true Pan African at heart. She is an avid volunteer and loves to write and sing. Rosemond is a gifted speaker, a humorist, and sees a silver lining in every cloud. She often refers to herself as a Chief Encouragement Officer, a true CEO because she believes that is the reason why God created her. As the author of “Apples in A Seed – Unleash the Unique You,” she uses the apple seed as a metaphor for potential that is sure to inspire each of us to move forward to greater purposes. In addition to our keynote speaker, we will have a panel of women that will also share their stories of survival, and their ability to overcome barriers in their lives that have led them to where they are today. This is a safe place for all women who have faced or are currently struggling or facing substance abuse disorders and/or domestic abuse.
