STRONGSVILLE, OH — Strongsville fourth and fifth graders can attend a free Fire Academy for Kids in June. The Strongsville Fire Department is organizing the educational event. Two sessions, with 15 kids in each session, will be held June 10 and June 11 at Fire Station No. 4, 17000 Prospect Road. The Fire Academy runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Participating kids will receive a T-shirt and will be sworn in by Mayor Tom Perciak. The program will educate kids on what firefighters do and will keep them busy with hands-on activities. Children and participating firefighters will wear masks and follow social distancing during the sessions. Multiple sanitizing stations will be placed in Fire Station No. 4. Parents can register their kids for a session by emailing their child's name and shirt size to [email protected]. The program is open only to children who have not attended the Fire Academy before. Parents will be responsible for pick-up and drop-off.
