BERKELEY, CA — A Berkeley stalking suspect is facing additional charges for firing a gun outside his victim's home last month, police said.
The victim on March 22 reported receiving ongoing threatening messages from a man they had recently ended a dating relationship with according to the Berkeley Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as a 19-year-old Vallejo man.
The victim told officers they had heard a loud pop outside their home and then saw the suspect had posted a picture of a gun on social media, police said.
The suspect then told a mutual friend he had fired a shot outside the victim's home, which the friend relayed to the victim according to police.
Officers located and arrested the suspect in the Berkeley hills, police said.
A search warrant at the suspect's home revealed an illegal "ghost gun," a firearm with no serial number.
The Alameda County District Attorney's Office on March 24 charged the suspect with multiple violations, including stalking, discharging a firearm with gross negligence, and felony and misdemeanor weapons violations.
