PHOENIX, AZ — The city of Phoenix is closing parking lots at its parks over the Easter weekend to cut down on the spread of COVID-19. The parks themselves will remain open, though grilling will be prohibited on Saturday and Sunday, according to the city. The city will also close parking lots near Papago Park, including Hole in the Rock, though the trails and other amenities will remain open. Parking lots at city trailheads will remain open through the weekend, the city said. City dog parks will remain open, though parking lots will be closed. The city parking lots will close on Friday, with parking lot gates locked and ungated lots barricaded, the city said. The Easter weekend is traditionally the busiest two days of activities, the city said, with families and large groups celebrating together traditionally. Anyone that does walk or bike to the parks is reminded to not use the facilities if they're experiencing symptoms of illness, in addition to wearing a mask or face covering, bringing wipes and hand sanitizer, and keeping six feet or more of separation from others. For more information on the parking lot closures and what's open this weekend, visit the city of Phoenix's parks website.
