Children’s Museum of Atlanta is celebrating spring’s arrival with a variety of engaging programs throughout April. Kids will see special guests, Abby and Hopper, from the children’s podcast “Ask Deer Abby;” search high and low for Easter eggs on Easter Sunday; learn how to reduce, reuse and recycle during Earth Week; and more! The Museum welcomes families to dive deep into the wondrous world of famous children’s book author Mo Willems and his fascinating characters with the limited time The Pigeon Comes to Atlanta! A Mo Willems Exhibit. The Museum continues to make the health and wellness of its visitors its top priority, providing elevated precautions to protect guests throughout their visit. April Special Programming Abby and Hopper Stage Appearance Saturday, April 3 Children’s Museum of Atlanta is excited to welcome special guests, Abby and Hopper, from the children’s podcast “Ask Deer Abby” during Session B! In honor of DIY Day, kids will learn how to voice their own podcast characters through a voiceover workshop and dive into an intriguing storytime and color session. CMA On Stage Storytime: Should I Share My Ice Cream? By Mo Willems + Storytime: The Pigeon Has Feelings, Too by Mo Willems Session A: 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Voiceover Workshop + Storytime: The Day the Crayons Quit as read by Abby and Hopper Session B: 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Science Bar Little ones will make elephant toothpaste, build scribbling robots and learn some soapy science. Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. Creativity Café Children will paint their own pet rocks, make rainbow spinners and build button buses. Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. Easter Sunday Sunday, April 4 Hop on over to the Children’s Museum of Atlanta to celebrate Easter! Children will go on a colorful Easter egg scavenger hunt and learn the Bunny Hop. Upstairs, kids can explore jelly bean science and paint their own Easter chicks. Stage programs will not be available for the first session on Sundays in April. CMA On Stage Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt + The Bunny Hop Session B: 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Science Bar Little ones will discover jelly bean science. Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. Creativity Café Children will paint their own Easter chicks. Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. Earth Week Monday, April 19 – Saturday, April 24 Children’s Museum of Atlanta is celebrating the world’s wonderful environment with a week of fun-filled programs centered around Mother Earth! Little ones will learn how to reduce, reuse and recycle at the Science Bar, Creativity Café and on Stage. CMA On Stage Earth Week Poetry + Storytime: 10 Things I Can Do to Help My World by Melanie Walsh Session A: 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Science Bar Little ones will learn what materials can be recycled and composted using the curriculum from the Museum’s friends at Novelis. Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. Creativity Café Children will make their own seed paper and pinecone bird feeders while learning about poetry. Session A: 10 a.m. / Session B: 1 p.m. / Session C: 4 p.m. Continuing in April… The Pigeon Comes to Atlanta! A Mo Willems Exhibit Through Sunday, May 9 Guests are invited to experience the world of celebrated children’s book author Mo Willems and his treasured characters, including the best friend duo Elephant Gerald and Piggie, devoted companion Knuffle Bunny and the city bird, The Pigeon, best known for his shenanigans in Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! On Stage, kids will enjoy some of Willems’ beloved Elephant & Piggie books. Children can continue their learning adventure at the Science Bar and Creativity Café, where they will dive into animal science and create arts and crafts inspired by Willems. Sensory Friendly Sessions Sunday, April 4, 11, 18 and 25 Families with children on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing disorders are encouraged to join the Museum’s 2021 Sensory Friendly Sessions! On select Sundays during Session A, kids can enjoy a playful, hands-on experience with a sensory modified setting, limited admission and sound and lighting adjustments to ensure safety and comfort. Stage programming will not be available during Sensory Friendly Sessions. Session A: 9:30 a.m.
