Does Passive Solar work in Palm Desert

I am thinking about getting Passive Solar to heat my pool in Palm Desert. Can anyone tell me what kind of water temperatures your getting during the winter months? Just with Passive Solar? If you do use Solar do you also still heat with a pool heater to get the temps up higher? I just want to figure out if it is really cost effective to pay out for the Passive Solar install?
