Long-term substitute Facilities Manager needed for the Ithaca Waldorf School! 6-12 hours per week Beginning immediately, through August, 2021 The Ithaca Waldorf School (www.ithacawaldorf.org) is seeking a handy-person to manage the facilities (9000 sf building) and grounds (80 acres of field & forest). Duties include, but are not limited to: • making repairs and minor improvements to the building, classrooms, and play structures • maintaining the storm water management system and surrounding gardens • providing plumbing and electrical support, as needed • participating on the Facilities/Safety Committee • ensuring facility compliance with COVID regulations from NYS Department of Health &Tompkins County Health Department • communicating with subcontractors as needed for more significant repairs Currently, the Ithaca Waldorf school extends from Grade One through Eight, in addition to providing full day programs in two Early Childhood classrooms, which are fully accredited by the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America (www.waldorfearlychildhood.org). The independent, not-for-profit Ithaca Waldorf School is authorized by the New York State Department of Education to provide instruction through eighth grade. IWS is currently an Associate Member School of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (www.waldorfeducation.org. The Ithaca Waldorf School is nestled in the New York Finger Lakes on an 80-acre organic campus composed of field, forest and a biodynamic educational farm (www.youthfarmproject.org). Our Faculty, Administration and Board enjoy a warm collegial relationship and work collaboratively to strengthen the school’s growth. Qualifications: • Required: experience with facility and garden/land management • Recommended: experience working in a school setting • Strong communication and organizational skills Benefits include: • Joining a dynamic Administrative team as we maintain in-person learning for our students • $25/hour for up to 12 hours per week • Flexible schedule • Childcare during meeting attendance, as needed • After August 2021, possibility of a longer term position to include partial tuition remission Ithaca is home to Cornell University and Ithaca College, which offer our community a rich cultural life.
