We are seeking a talented person to join our team at a unique tropical nursery. This position is for a landscaper who will work on installations and maintenance at customers location and propagation of bamboo at the nursery. This includes digging, installation of plants ranging in size from 1 gallon to 45 gallon, operating gas powered chainsaws, blowers and trimmers, hand-pruning of plants, mulching and lifting of various plants and materials. Possession of a valid Florida driver's license is strongly preferred. The applicant must also have an interest in caring for plants. We are located on a beautiful two-acre property in central Pinellas County where we have our live plant nursery, outdoor showroom and a small gift shop. We specialize in growing clumping (non-invasive) bamboo and sell other live plants, provide custom landscaping, build bamboo fences and offer unique décor items. Our customers range from higher-end residence owners to professional landscapers to individuals with an interest in gardening. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Hardworking, reliable and detail-orientated The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team Ability to drive a truck and operate a Bobcat is preferred Basic woodworking knowledge is preferred Effective communication and organizational skills are preferred EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School or secondary diploma or equivalent preferred Nursery and/or landscaping experience strongly preferred WORKING CONDITIONS You will work outdoors (in all weather conditions). Activities include working throughout grounds and in the field, planting, lifting, shoveling, digging and cutting. Regular interactions with customers at their home while doing installations. This position is full-time and would also consider candidates seeking part-time employment. Our normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
