Company Overview: REC is a leading Electrical/AV Contractor in NYC. Our projects include High-End Residential and Commercial jobs for some of the leading clients, companies and venues in the New York City area. We deliver projects for customized automation solutions including distributed entertainment systems, lighting controls, motorized shading, HVAC systems, access controls and IT infrastructure. Position Summary We are currently looking for an experienced Lead Technician who has a minimum of 3-5 years of AV installation and integration experience. The ideal candidate would be an individual who is neat, courteous, able to listen carefully and take direction, detail-oriented, eager to work and importantly, someone who takes great care and pride in their craft. Job Responsibilities: • Possess an understanding of an AV floorplan, wire schedule, elevation & schematics • Have a comprehensive knowledge of legacy & leading-edge multimedia systems, equipment and networking technologies used in high tech facilities, conference centers • Splice, terminate, and pinpoint various audio, video, data cables, and wire • Understanding of LAN/WAN hardware and software switches, hubs, routers, bridges, modems, multiplexors, point to point data circuits via cooper and fiber for audio and video • Interface and collaborate with clients and vendors on job sites • Using a variety of software and testing equipment to conduct troubleshooting procedures • Understanding key product lines including Crestron, Savant, Sonos, Lutron among others • Basic knowledge of Crestron Toolbox and Savant is a plus. • Test and load programs and update firmware as per clients’ request • Possess a deep understanding of rack building procedures and tying in racks on-site • Installing, setting up and programming TVs, speakers, video projectors and projector screens among other similar type of equipment • Familiarity with lighting and shade systems including HomeWorks QS low voltage wiring, RPMs and breaker panels, 0-10v wiring, dimmers, keypads, repeaters, shade wiring, and setting shade limits • Installing and programming keypads and URC remotes • Using a variety of software and testing equipment to conduct troubleshooting procedures • Document the installation procedure with accuracy and timeliness and complete all required paperwork Qualifications: Education/Experience • High School diploma or general education degree (GED). • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in AV industry; or a combination of education and relevant AV technical knowledge/skills/abilities. • Knowledge of all wire and connector types on all AV related cabling. • Proactive and effective communication with management concerning job status • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of AV technologies to conduct testing, analysis, and corrective action in a professional environment. • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast paced, high volume environment. • Proficient in terminating and troubleshooting of AV cabling. • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills. • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
