Description
Join Lindsay for a day of Screenprinting in our BAC Art Lab. Create & pull your own design on prints, t-shirts or canvas bags! What it's all about: 🎨 Lindsay Toney, a Printmaking Alumni from WVU and active artist in southern WV will be teaching a screen-printing workshop! Students will learn basic screen-printing techniques in a fast-paced environment, printing a 3 color screen-print by the end of the workshop. This course is similar to a baking show in that students will see the process from start to finish however some steps will be prepared ahead of time to allow for ample time to print. The first part of the day will be spent learning about screen-printing and the preparation that comes with screen-printing. The second half of the workshop will be spent printing. This Workshop will include all things needed to print a single 3 color print on Stonehenge cream paper. Although paper will be provided by the instructor, students are encouraged to bring additional printing materials to print on such as fabric, t-shirts, colored paper, or basically any flat surface medium. The Workshop is $60 per student and will span over a day in June with an hour break halfway through. Class size is limited to 9 students per class due to social distancing protocols and COVID-19 concerns. ⏰ Class Schedule: June 26, 12:00 - 2:00 PM, 1 hour break, 3:00 - 6:00 PM 12:00 – 2:00 PM Learning about screen-printing and other active Screen-printing artists How to degrease a screen How to coat a screen with emulsion How to expose a screen 3:00 – 6:00 PM Printing! *some students will finish before 6:00 PM but the instructor will be available until 6:00 PM If students have questions or would like to experiment with other materials to print on. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Material List: Supplied Pre-Stretched Aluminum Silk Screen Printing Frames with 200-300 Mesh count Ulano LX-660 Emulsion Red, Yellow, Blue, Black, and White Speedball Fabric Ink Blick Standard Squeegee - 12'', 70-75 Durometer Duralar transparencies sheets Silicone mixing spatula Sealable plastic container Masking tape Clear packaging tape Black sharpie Large sponge Mixing bowl for water Not Supplied Printing material (cotton fabric, tote bags, t-shirts, Stonehenge paper, etc.) Links to purchase screen-printing materials: https://www.dickblick.com/categories/printmaking/screen-printing/ https://www.dickblick.com/products/legion-stonehenge-paper/ https://www.frenchpaper.com/all-products?cat=4 https://www.blankapparel.com/comfort-colors https://www.bellacanvas.com/Unisex-Categories/Tees-and-Tanks/ https://totebagfactory.com/collections/wholesale-cotton-tote-bags/products/economical-100-cotton-tote-bag-tob293?variant=728431129 Materials are limited and subject to being shared.
