Adult Male Eastern Rosella

Description

Six-year-old male Eastern rosella. Robust, healthy, a great size and has several adorable human-taught whistles. He will make a fabulous breeder for reintroducing the natural morph into your lutino/rubino lines for genetic diversity and robustness. This rosella is not suitable for closely bonding with a human. Most rosellas are not very trusting of humans and this one is no exception. He is not tame and would be an extreme challenge to win over due to his species and age. He is best suited for an aviary situation where he can live with lots of space and hopefully a female rosella or other suitable companion. This is not a species that can be kept in a "normal"-sized cage all the time. At our house he was out of his cage nearly all day every day so he had ample room, but if he will be kept in an enclosure full time it must be large - at least 10' x 5' x 6' is recommended for rosellas. We bought him about 6 months ago from the first owner who thought he was female and named him Rosey. We originally intended to breed him but ultimately decided against breeding rosellas, preferring to focus on our budgies and Neophemas. Serious inquiries only. There is a $400 rehoming fee. Please have already made your peace with this before contacting me. I will not re-home him to just anyone and will recognize a careless breeder or careless owner very quickly. I will also be able to easily sense if you have no idea what you're getting yourself into. Key words: golden-mantled, whistler, whistling, rainbow, carnival bird
