Experience Barn Assistant / Horse Handler Needed Immediately! Between our 2 pastures and our barn, we have several thoroughbreds (retired), a filly, a few cows and a couple rabbits that all need your love and attention! We need someone experienced with horse handling, preference to those with racetrack experience, and someone who knows how to show up to work! Read of for the specifics of the position: Duties: • Daily feeding (am shift) – all animals (horses, cows, rabbits) • Morning turnout / evening turnin of horses currently on barn rest (currently includes filly) • Barn maintenance (stall mucking/stripping, barn cleanup, etc) • Light grooming Requirements: • Minimum 2 years’ experience with barn work • Minimum 2 years’ experience handling horses (to include walking) • Reliable transportation • Flexible Schedule (we require one of the horse handlers available during farrier and vet visits) • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs (feed, muck buckets, water buckets, etc.) • Must be able to stand for long periods of time: shoveling, walking horses, sweeping • Ability to start immediately Preferences: • Experience with racehorses (retired or active) • Any knowledge/experience in breeding • Any knowledge/experience in caring for foals Next Steps: Please do not apply if you do not meet ALL the requirements listed above.
