WAUKESHA, WI—The 2021 election is heating up in Wisconsin and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office. Voters will also decide the outcome of state representative, senate seats and local government and school boards. Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near. Three people will be elected to the Waukesha School Board in April. Kurt O'Bryan hopes to retain his seat on the the School District Of Waukesha School Board. Age (as of Election Day) 61 Position Sought School District Of Waukesha School Board Member Party Affiliation Non-Partisan Family Married with two children Does anyone in your family work in politics or government? My spouse is an Administrator in another Public School District. Education BS and MS in Engineering and EMBA Occupation Business Development and Engineering Consultant. Previous or Current Elected or Appointed Office School Board Member Campaign website Kurtobryan4sdw.com Why are you seeking elective office? I have had many successes as a School Board Member. My efforts have resulted in a very strong financial position, improved safety and a significant increase in curricular options. I plan to continue to build on these successes should the voters re-elect me for another 3 year term. The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it. The single most pressing issue facing our district is student achievement. I will focus our resources on strengthening our Elementary Education programs. We have a number of examples in our School District that have made a bid difference. We can expand these successes to all of our schools. What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post? I look for solutions to problems we will be facing in the future. I do not look backwards on problems that are now behind us. What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions? I am a "traditional" Conservative. I look for efficiencies to get the most dollars possible available for the classroom and classroom support. We need to hire and retain great educators to have a great school district. Partisan politics should have no role in our decision making as School Board Members. I have not accepted a donation from a political party or a special interest group in any of my past re-election efforts.
