Milwaukee Judge Arrested On Child Pornography Possession Charges

MILWAUKEE, WI — A Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge has been arrested on tentative charges of possession of child pornography after state law enforcement officials conducted an investigation into multiple uploads of elicit images, the state attorney general announced on Tuesday. Brett Blomme, 38, was arrested following a Wisconsin Department of Justice investigation in which the images were discovered. The child pornography was uploaded through a Kik Messenger app, Attorney General Josh Kaul said Tuesday in a news release. Based on records that linked the uploads to Blomme, a search warrant was obtained by investigators for the judge's chambers, his vehicle and his residences in Milwaukee and Dane counties, officials said. Authorities said that a full criminal complaint is expected to be released on Wednesday. Special assistance was received from the following agencies in executing the search warrants: Wauwatosa Police Department; Cottage Grove Police Department; Racine County Sheriff; Brookfield Police Department; Waukesha County Sheriff; and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Blomme took the bench last August, according to a biography on his website. He is on the described there as a community activist, experienced attorney and devoted dad. Blomme previously served as an attorney with the Wisconsin State Public Defender's Office, where he represented low-income individuals who were charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes. His biography says he resides in the Lenox Heights neighborhood on Milwaukee's west side with his husband, Chris, and is the father of two children.
