FRANKLIN, WI — During a season that featured a delayed start and mandatory mask-wearing while playing, the Franklin High School girls and boys basketball teams ensured the 2020-21 campaign also be remembered for on-court success.
Both teams saw fine seasons come to an end last weekend. The girls team fell 61-46 to Hudson in Saturday's WIAA Girls Division 1 semifinal at the Menominee Nation Arena. Senior Gabby Gawlitta led the Sabres with 18 points and eight rebounds and sophomore Taylor Wojcinski added 11 points. The Sabres finished 15-6.

Senior forward Carter Capstran led Franklin with 21 points and seven rebounds, senior Marko Rajkovic had 14 points and 9 rebounds and senior Elliott Harris had 11 points.
The Franklin boys tied the school record for wins and reached the sectional final for the first time since 1983. The 6-foot-6 Capstran, who averaged 16.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and three assists, was named a finalist for Wisconsin Sports Network's top senior post award.
