March 3, 2021
The Appleton Area School District is proud to welcome our newest school board member, James Clemons. His term expires April 25, 2021.
Please read the introduction below to learn more about what he hopes to achieve through his membership in the Board of Education.
Welcome Jim!
Message from Board Member James Clemons: "I am honored to have filled the current vacancy on the Appleton School Board. I am a lifelong Appleton resident and graduate of Appleton East High School. My wife graduated from Appleton West and both of our adult children graduated from Appleton North.
I have been actively involved in our community. I am honored to use my experience and long time personal knowledge of the community to benefit the board.
I have held elective office in the Appleton Area for over twenty years. I was two time council president and currently serve on the Apple Creek YMCA Board of Directors and Finance Committee. Factoring in the short two month time frame of this experience, a shorter learning curve will be very valuable.
This experience also allows me to focus on jurisdiction relative to a specific committee. That focus will allow me to fully understand complex issues and suggest changes where appropriate. I trust that others will do the same, all the while communicating as things change during the process.
We need to focus on what works best for the students and faculty by helping all achieve realistic, measurable results within the limited budgets we are dealing with."
