Description

UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA — Firefighters with West Pierce Fire & Rescue spent Monday night containing a blaze in a commercial building in eastern University Place. At around 9:30 p.m. Monday, West Pierce Fire announced their crews had been called to a two-alarm fire in the strip mall at 2601 70th Ave W. A still from the scene shows crews tackling the fire from the building's northern edge, as a thin smoke billows from the roof. Despite the severity of the fire - a 2-alarm fire means it requires twice the resources to contain - the blaze was under control by 10 p.m. The cause of the fire, and the extent of the damages it caused are unknown. No injuries have been reported.
