SEATTLE — A man is dead and police are searching for a gunman after a shooting inside a church in Seattle's Rainier Valley Wednesday afternoon.
The Seattle Police Department responded to the scene, located along the 7700 block of Rainier Avenue South, just after 4 p.m. Several local media outlets shared images from the area, showing police tape and a large emergency response surrounding the Emerald City Bible Fellowship.
In a brief update published Wednesday evening, police said a man walked into the church, opened fire on the victim and quickly fled the scene. KIRO 7 reported the shooting followed an argument between the victim and the shooter at a church event with more than three dozen attendees.
According to Seattle police, investigators believe they know the shooter's identity and are working to locate him. Detectives have not shared a potential motive or released a description of the suspect. The man who was killed will be formally identified by the King County Medical Examiner's Office.
